If you're a marketer or content creator, you probably want to know how effectively you drive traffic to content. To do that, you'll use UTM parameters and append those to a link that you share so Google Analytics (and other analytics tools) can credit you for the traffic to that link!

Admittedly, it's annoying to remember to add parameters (a long string of symbols like & and = with other characters) to the end of your link. And even then, it ends up being quite long.

To solve this, I made this that copies the current page's link, appends parameters, shortens the link, and then adds it to your clipboard, so you can reference it wherever you want!

Activate the Blueprint

1. Activate this . If you're not logged into PixieBrix or have not previously created a PixieBrix account, you'll be prompted to do so before continuing the activation flow for this .

2. Once logged in, you'll need to configure a few quick things to get this up and running.

   • Start by adding the parameters you want to add to the end of a URL. It will look something like this ?utm_source=creator&utm_medium=unpaid-social&utm_campaign=P:all|O:community|F:awareness|C:ptour|W:bjoiner|H:fy23-jan-june|I:atlassian-creators|L:en|

   • Next, you'll need to configure your Rebrandly integration for link shortening. (Don't worry - it's easy!) Click "Configure" to get started.

   • Name the configuration anything you like. To get the API, create an account on Rebrandly, and then go to the API settings and click "generate new API key".

   • Copy that value, and you'll paste that into the key field in the PixieBrix integration modal. Then click "save," and you're ready to click activate!

Try it Out

1. From any website, right-click a page to open the context menu. You should see the PixieBrix Icon and Add UTM params and shorten link.

2. A window alert will appear showing the new link and letting you know it's been copied to your clipboard! There's no action you need to take. You can press "enter" to close the modal.

3. Now, you'll see a spray of confetti, and you can paste your shortened link anywhere you like.

4. You can confirm it has the appropriate parameters by visiting the link to see the full link unfurled with your parameters.

Endless Possibilities

This is just the beginning! Once you activate your , the possibilities are endless. For example, you could create a form with different dropdowns that let you select different parameters based on the channel you're on or customizes some other aspect of it.
